Are you worried about falling?

Patient Action: Implement fall precautions discussed with my care team.

CC Context: People who are worried about falling are more likely to fall. It is important to ask what makes them worried that they will fall. This will help you determine the cause and solution and point the patient in the right direction. Advise the patient to review the handout sent to them and the fall risk brochure for some solutions to varying problems. These solutions may help them feel less worried.

Questions to Ask:

  • What is it that makes you worried you will fall?
    • Is it clutter in your home?
    • Is it weakness in your legs?
    • Is it poor vision?
    • Is it a cat or dog in your home that trips you up?
