Once you’ve asked someone to be your accountability partner and they’ve agreed, share with them what it is specifically you’d like them to hold you accountable to. From there, you can work on creating a plan together. Maybe they’ll call you once a week or send daily texts to check-in. If you live near your accountability partner, you can also consider doing activities together that could help you work towards your goal. For example, if you’re trying to exercise three times a week, you could ask your accountability partner if they’d like to join you for a walk once a week. If your accountability partner is working towards a personal goal too, you can also offer to be their accountability partner. Holding each other accountable to goals can help to strengthen your relationship.
We’ve also mentioned how pets can be accountability partners too! Maybe you have a goal to exercise more, do you have a furry friend that would love to go on a walk? If so, you could consider using them for accountability. Are you trying to cut down on late-night eating? Consider using that time to play with your dog.
If there isn’t anyone in your life you’d like to utilize as an accountability partner, remember you also have your MyCare Coordinator who cares about you and will call you monthly to check in, they make great accountability partners!
