Quinoa

Native to South America, quinoa, often thought of as a grain, is technically a seed (or vegetable). However, it is often categorized as a grain due to having a similar nutritional profile as other whole grain-like foods and often being used to make grain-like products such as flour. Quinoa is packed with many nutrients such as phosphorous, magnesium and manganese that are needed for bone health, iron and zinc which support metabolism, and protein. Plus, it’s gluten-free! Quinoa has a nutty taste making it an excellent choice when looking to add flavor to your meals. Consider using quinoa in place of other grain-like foods such as pasta or rice to include more variety in your food choices.
