Smoked Paprika
Do you often grab paprika without considering the type of paprika the recipe is calling for? There are different types of paprika that add different flavor profiles to foods. Smoked paprika is still made from ground sweet pepper pods, however, it’s preparation is not the same.
Smoked paprika is made from peppers that are smoked and dried typically over an oak fire. This gives the paprika a smoky flavor that can have a mild, medium-hot, or hot intensity. Given the more intense and smokey flavor, smoked paprika is great for grilling outdoors to enhance the smokiness of the food, in jambalaya, or even added to deviled eggs.
By adding smoked paprika to your dishes, you are not only enhancing the flavor of the food, but you are also increasing the amount of micronutrients you are consuming. Smoked paprika is a good source of vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin B6, and some iron. It also has a variety of antioxidants.
