The Salty Six

The American Heart Association recommends keeping salt intake to 1500mg per day with an upper limit of 2300mg.  Only about 10% of our salt intake comes from the saltshaker with more than 70% coming from processed food. What is one of the biggest culprits? Bread. Many bread products can have as much as 50% of the recommended salt intake in only one serving! Keep in mind bread and these other foods, often called the “Salty Six”, when making efforts to reduce your salt intake.
