Wellness Workshop Summary

Embarking on a journey of personal growth and self-improvement can be both exhilarating and challenging. Throughout our Wellness Workshop, we've explored the intricate aspects of motivation, covering SMART Goals, planning, accountability, Tiny Habits, gratitude, emotions, self-care, overcoming obstacles, sleep, energy, and maintaining habits. Now, as we stand at the crossroads of achievement and the next steps in our personal development, we'll briefly recap each of these areas.

  • SMART Goals: These are short-term goals or action steps, you can set to help you reach your long-term goals. SMART stands for specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound.

  • Planning: Creating a plan can help to ensure you have access to the right resources, fit your SMART Goal into your daily routine, and think through potential solutions to anticipated barriers.

  • Accountability: Webster’s dictionary defines accountability as, “an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one’s action”. When thinking about trying to improve our health, accountability can be thought of as taking ownership of our actions that impact our health and wellness.

  • Tiny Habits: A tiny habit is a behavior that takes minimal effort, is done daily, and takes less than 30 seconds. You can follow the A-B-C’s of Tiny Habits by choosing an anchor (something that triggers you to complete the behavior), a behavior (the action you want to take), and a way to celebrate (how you want to positively reinforce completing the behavior).

  • Gratitude: A deep appreciation for all of the positive things in your life. Some ways to practice gratitude are to write what you’re grateful for in a journal, be observant and look for the good in each day, and express your gratitude to people you are thankful for.

  • Emotions: These are feelings that we experience in response to various stimuli. We discussed different ways to work through difficult emotions.

  • Self-Care: By practicing self-care, you are making a purposeful and proactive choice of caring for yourself in a variety of aspects of your life.

  • Overcoming Obstacles: Obstacles can be stepping stones on our personal growth and development journey. We reviewed a variety of ways to overcome obstacles and stay motivated in spite of the challenges we face.

  • Sleep and Energy: During sleep, our bodies repair, and regenerate cells, while our minds sort and store memories, making us ready for the day ahead. We reviewed the importance of sleep as well as the sleep cycle and different ways to improve energy that aren’t related to sleep.

  • Maintaining Habits: We covered different ways to sustain positive changes for the long term.

Our goal throughout the Wellness Workshop has been to provide you with the tools and knowledge necessary for a successful health and wellness journey. We believe in you and we can’t wait to continue supporting you!
