In this article, we'll be talking about tending to your own well-being with care and consideration, known as self-care.
When practicing self-care, you are making a purposeful and proactive choice to care for yourself. Practicing self-care can help you stay connected to yourself and what matters most. Often, self-care can be seen as a luxury, but it is something that can be helpful to practice daily instead of just when you feel stressed. Practicing self-care routinely can potentially help you manage your stress, lower your risk of illness, increase energy levels, and improve overall emotional, social, and psychological well-being.
Self-care looks different for everyone and it can even include what you do to manage any health conditions you may have. For example, testing your blood sugars if you are living with diabetes can be considered a form of self-care. When practicing self-care, it can be challenging to have patience but try to remember that it can take some time to feel the benefits. Believe in yourself and know that you are doing something great for yourself when you practice self-care.
